GREEN PLAINS DAIRY

Shared Share-Farming Arrangement
Meningie, SA - Commence March 2025

Are you passionate about dairy, crave autonomy, but perhaps not ready to take the plunge into building your own herd or farm?  Then we have the answer for you.

We are a high production, 600 cow dairy farm with a 50 unit rotary, located 15km outside of Meningie in South Australia.  The farm has 6250 acres split into milking, heifer rearing and calf rearing.  We currently employ two Share-Farming couples who live on farm, both of whom have been with us for well over 10 years.  One couple is looking to retire at the end of February 2025, so we have an exciting opportunity for a person, couple or family to become our second Share-Farmer.

The position comes with your own 3 bedroom house and roles are split between the 2 share farmers. You will be required to work 5 days per week with 2 milking days and general dairy farm duties including heifer rearing.

The Share-Farmer we seek will have:

  • Respect and pride in the dairy industry

  • Strong understanding and focus on Workplace Health and Safety

  • Excellent time management skills

  • The drive to achieve consistently and utilise industry best practice in all areas of dairy farming

  • Excellence in dairy stock management and handling

  • Good understanding of paddock rotations and animal husbandry

  • High level communication skills, including reporting to the farm owners both formally and informally

  • Motivation

  • Ability to work unsupervised

  • Ability to work closely with the owners to grow the business and develop their own skills to become an integral part of the farm

As a Share-Farmer you will need your own:

  • Herding vehicles (ute, quadbike)

  • PPE

  • ABN – you will receive your payment directly from the milk company

If you have relevant dairy experience and would like to apply for this exciting opportunity please forward your resume to Malcolm Crossman greenplains@internode.on.net, or ring Malcolm for more information on 0428 184 457.
